Welcome to Doncaster, the main settlement of the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster. It is a large minster town in South Yorkshire. Its name derives from the River Don that flows through the town. In the 18th to 20th century, Doncaster emerged as an industrial centre and continued to be an extremely busy and experienced vast migration centre. Coal also became a major industry which helped Doncaster economy to expand its transportation link with the rest of the United Kingdom. Modern enterprise includes the Doncaster International Railport that dispatches goods to all of Europe including retailers such as Next, Tesco, IKEA, and Amazon. Additionally, Doncaster was granted Fairtrade Town status.
