The area is anticipated to continue to grow with local authorities set to drastically increase the number of homes across Northampton, Wellingborough and Kettering; including over 25,000 new homes alone within the innovative North Northamptonshire Garden Community. Furthermore, between October 2017 and March 2021, Local Growth Deal projects have attracted over £215.6 million in funding from the European Structural Investment Fund. This includes road infrastructure developments to support the realisation of the area's ambitious development plans.
Alongside the Northampton Waterside Enterprise Zone (the largest urban Enterprise Zone in the UK), the area boasts seven Science/Technology/Business Hubs. In addition, as defined by the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership, Northamptonshire is home to a number of "showcase sectors" including automotive, food and drink, as well as the footwear industry. The University of Northampton relocated to their new Waterside campus in September 2018 which, along with already making a positive cultural and economic impact on Northampton and its surrounding areas, is anticipated to be hugely influential in the direction of the economic growth of the town centre and its wider area.
There is great potential for training in the area, with a very large and extensive "captive" population. The market for training for both private and corporate clients is significant. The current ratio is 70:30, with the potential for growth within both, especially with repeat business.
