Pitman Training expands in to Spain and partners with former student
Marta Garcia carries on a proud tradition that persists at Pitman Training of former students going to run their own centres. After studying Effective Business Communications at the Holburn centre in 2004, Marta has now opened the first Spanish Pitman Training Centre, joining us as franchise partner, for a centre in Barcelona.
Marta, came to England in 2003, after working at a Law firm in Barcelona for 3 years. She decided she wanted to improve her English and in turn her job prospects. Having studied and obtained a Paralegal studies diploma, alongside her Pitman qualification, Marta confirms she found a job in a short space of time, and spent 6 years living and working in London, before returning to Barcelona in 2009. Marta believes people who train at Pitman Training can boost their career, as this is exactly what happened to her – after completing her course, she said she found her dream job in London.
"The chance to open a Pitman Training centre in Barcelona, presented itself as the perfect business opportunity for me. I think the job market in Barcelona requires people with a good command of the English language alongside other professional skills, and enhances the ability for people to compete within the international Job Market. Pitman Training offers more than 100 courses in a variety of sectors in industry, which means people can train, develop their skills and abilities and maximise their career opportunities which is perfectly suited to what Barcelona needs right now. In Barcelona there are a lot international companies and the current economic conditions which means people are looking for an edge over others – you have to train to be the best and stand out from the crowd.
The quality of Pitman courses and diplomas is second to none, and I especially like how Pitman design and prepare their own courses which means they can adapt more easily to the training demands of the market. I also like how Pitman Training offers flexible study options to students so they can fit in with day to day commitments – this is key in Barcelona, as working hours can be long, and the flexibility to study in your own time is a great advantage.
I had meetings in London with Andrew Walters, Franchise Sales Director at Pitman Training, a couple of times before I finally took the plunge. In one meeting he arranged visits to centres in London which helped me gather a great insight in to how the centres work. The help and support I have received from Andrew and the rest of the Head Office team over the past year or so has been brilliant; from looking over my market research to coming over to Barcelona to give me advice and assistance for the centre opening in March 2014. I truly feel I have become a part of a great franchise network.
Pitman Training is a top business superbrand. It has over 175 years of experience in enabling millions to access learning and its expanding growth towards international markets means that being trained by Pitman has the same value and recognition abroad as if being studied in the UK, which is a huge benefit and advantage for citizens of Barcelona."
