Dover opening

The business community in Dover celebrated as Pitman Training in the Market Square officially opened their new training centre on 14th January 2011. The launch event also included the presentation of their Student of the Year Award for 2010.

Pitman Training has been an important contributor to the local economy for almost ten years, supporting people and businesses in the area. Paula Elliott, Centre Manager (pictured right, centre) and owner said, “We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new facilities, we look forward to welcoming students new and old. The centre has increased in size to respond to the growing demands.”

Members of the public can benefit from a range of training tailored to their needs, from basic PC skills through to advanced courses for Microsoft Office and Sage. Every student will get access to expert advice about their career and training needs.

A recent success story is that of Stacie Pettman, winner of Pitman Training Dover’s Student of the Year Award for 2010 (pictured above, left). Stacie, who completed her Diploma whilst working, has just qualified as a Legal Secretary with the centre. Receiving her award from local MP Charlie Elphicke she commented, “I am so proud of what I have achieved with the help and support of everyone at Pitman Training. Receiving this award is the icing on the cake and I am really hoping to do everyone proud by realising my potential when I start my new job. Thanks to Paula and the team I feel like I can do anything!”

In attendance on the day was the Right Worshipful the Town Mayor of Dover, Councillor Mrs Sue Jones (pictured above, right). Her message was about people working towards a common aim: to help the town survive the recession and come out of it ready for regeneration.

Charlie Elphicke MP, a supporter of the benefits Pitman Training brings to Dover, was delighted to accept the invitation to cut the ceremonial ribbon. Mr Elphicke said, “It is a pleasure to mark the occasion of the opening of the new Pitman Training centre in this way. Training for local people is vital to strengthen the economy and Pitman Training offers great opportunities for development in Dover.”

If you’d like to change your career for the better, Pitman Training Dover can give you the skills and confidence you need. The centre is open Monday to Saturday 9.15am – 5.30pm. Pop in and see us at 3 Market Square.
